Hi, I'm Kerseri Scane
R.Kin., MSc., Caregiver Coach
My passion in life has always been to help others, but I certainly did not think my life was going to be what it is today.
I am a healthcare professional with a 28 year history of working as a Kinesiologist in rehabilitation, a Health Coach and as a Patient Experience Specialist in a large hospital in Toronto, Canada.
I had been supporting my vibrant parents with their chronic health conditions for years. However in 2018, I noticed my father began developing signs of dementia. The pandemic in 2020 and the isolation hastened his decline and brought to light my mother’s dementia diagnosis. Needless to say, both of their decline was profound and fast.

Years before I was fortunate that they put their trust in me to take care of them. Now, I found myself suddenly in the role of actively caring for my parents who needed help on a day to day basis.
Although I had a good sense of what the health system was like, navigating it was challenging and watching what my parents were going through was heartbreaking. Even more disconcerting, was finding out they did not prepare for this phase of their life.
My parents did not anticipate their cognitive or physical decline and had not made any financial preparations beyond a basic Will. The weight of the responsibility they gave me to ensure they were safe and cared for was heavy.

The journey has been complex and one that has been filled with stressful and painful moments, and others that have been joyful and successful. I won't lie, it is not easy, but I have learned to find my path as a caregiver to my parents while continuing to be a wife and mother to my awesome family, a working professional and a daughter.
My caregiving journey continues, but I am learning to thrive and move forward with compassionate purpose.

My lived experience, coupled with my healthcare experience has inspired me to Coach others who are caring for their parents.
I am ready to support you on this path – let’s get started.
